KRSCMS Library
The heart of the institute — books, journals, e-resources and a quiet place to learn.
Introduction
The Library is the heart of the Institute and plays a vital role in supporting its academic, teaching, learning, and research activities. It contributes significantly to the educational mission of the Institute by collecting, organizing, preserving, and disseminating relevant information and knowledge resources to meet the curricular, academic, and general information needs of students, faculty, and staff.
The Library has a rich and diverse collection of textbooks, reference books, general books, journals, magazines, encyclopedias, handbooks, bound volumes, CD-ROMs, video lectures, e-books, online journals, e-resources, and other reading materials. The library collection is systematically classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Scheme to facilitate easy identification and retrieval of resources. The Library is computerized using AutoLib NG Library Management Software, which supports various library operations and provides users with convenient access to the collection through Web-OPAC.
The Library follows modern and automated practices for efficient management and delivery of its services. Books are barcoded and their issue, return, and circulation activities are carried out using barcode readers/scanners, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and effective tracking of library resources. A student entry scanner is provided at the library entrance to record and monitor student visits, ensuring secure, systematic, and hassle-free access to the Library. These automated facilities help in maintaining accurate records and improving the overall efficiency of library operations.
The Library provides a range of facilities and services, including an automated library management system, barcode-based circulation, student entry scanning, Web-OPAC facility, digital resources, e-books, online journals and e-resources, a comprehensive print collection, and reader support services for students, faculty, and researchers. Through its well-organized collection, modern technological facilities, and user-oriented services, the Library strives to create a supportive, accessible, and user-friendly learning environment and to effectively meet the academic, information, and research requirements of the Institute.
